On December 20, 2010 we were told that Chromium VI (6), a cancer causing chemical, was found in the tap water in 31 cities out of 35 tested by The Environmental Working Group. The scientists estimate that at least 74 million people in the USA in 42 states regularly drink chromium-tainted water, and a considerable proportion of it is in the carcinogenic hexavalent form. This is quite alarming.

Too Much Fluoride in our Drinking Water?
Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that the fluoride levels in our water (used to protect our teeth) are too high, causing damage to our kid's teeth (see announcement below). This is alarming.
I thought our water supply was the best in the world, but obviously, it has problems. This is just another reason that we have to protect ourselves by using some form of water filtration. In the case of chromium and lead, KDF removes that, and fortunately, anyone with a KDF/GAC filter has been protected. Fluoride is a different problem because it's added to most municipal water systems in the US. Here in Detroit it's at about 1.20 ppm--which is slightly higher than the average of 1 ppm. Many parts of the country put in more or less.
